Drive down Golden Hills Drive till you see the cabin (it will be on your right after ~1 mile). The parking space is about 30’ uphill from the cabin.

Welcome! The code for the combo lock will be in your Airbnb messages. Let us know if you have any questions at all.

Solar Power

The two biggest draws on power are the AC/Heater split system seen above and the electric water kettle.

Please be conscious of running both at once if other electronics are actively being used.

Best Practices

1) Use AC only in ECO mode (75 degrees).

2) Only use AC/heater when in tiny home - don’t leave on if you leave for the day.

3) Once it cools off into the night, we’ve found opening the windows and using the floor fan to circulate air is quite effective.

The Overlook is an off-grid setup – your lights, air conditioning and all other plug fueled items are running off of the sun. Everything in the tiny home can run continuously on the solar setup if used properly. Always keep in mind that you’re on solar and conserve power when able. If the batteries are ever drained below capacity, a somewhat loud beep will begin. To turn off, press the enter and down buttons on the Growatt (under stovetop) at the same time. From here, the sun has to charge the batteries which can take anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on sun conditions.

WiFi

The Overlook has a Verizon hotspot available to all guests.

Please, if you’re able, limit data usage when possible.

Network: Verizon-ASMHS01-b7e3 2.4GHZ

Password: 652e22d9

The worldwide web is yours to explore. Service is usually sufficient to stream HD video from one device.

AC/Heater

Adjacent to the light switches on the front wall is the controller for the AC/Heater. Hit the “On/Off” button to start cooling or heating. Please keep unit in eco mode (75 degrees or more). There’s no eco mode for heat, but keep to 65 at night. Please turn off if not in tiny home.

The wall mount will indicate the temperature the unit is attempting to achieve. If you want to turn off the LED lights, open the controller and hit LED.

Making Coffee

We offer a french press for coffee making. If you’re unfamiliar, follow the below link for instructions.

Visit the below for a step-by-step. BREW HERE.

The grinder is pictured above. This is where you’ll put the coffee beans for grinding.

TIP: 2 tablespoons of coffee grinds for every 6oz of water.

The grounds and water will go into the french press pictured above.

Use the electric kettle for boiling water.

Composting Toilet

Going #1: Female, male, or however you identify, please take a seat and do your business. Your pee will naturally divert to the front. If you use toilet paper, drop into the container for solid waste.

Going # 2: Sit, the flap will automatically open, do your business, and, when finished, place all toilet paper in the bowl.

TIP: to open the flap when standing, press down firmly on the back of seat.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

If you have any trouble, don’t hesitate to reach out.

We’re here to answer questions or help if needed.

TIP: If the flap doesn’t open, there’s a good chance all that needs doing is to push the top flap below the bottom where they meet in the middle.

Cooking

Cooking at The Overlook is like it is anywhere else. There’s a two burner stovetop.

If you ever run out of gas, just give a call or send a message and we’ll be up to replace

When using the barbecue, there’s a good chance the propane is turned off at the tank. Open the door below the grill, turn the knob to the left, and you’re set to go. Please turn off when done.

Pots, pans & cookware are located in the cabin and barbecue ware will be next to the barbecue.

Happy Cooking!

Wildlife

Be Snake Aware. Rattlesnakes may be found in this area. They will not attack, but if disturbed or cornered, they will defend themselves. Give them distance and respect if seen or heard. High season is typically April, May & June.

Coyotes are generally not a concern for humans, but, particularly for those with small children or dogs, please be aware of their possible presence in the vicinity.

There is plenty of local wildlife beyond the previous two, almost all of which you’re far more likely to see during your stay. Please be respectful and enjoy.

Checking Out

1) Turn off all lights

2) Turn off the air conditioner/heater

3) Wash Dishes and bundle towels.

4) Lock up on the way out. To close the combo-lock it must be set to the opening sequence.

Please do the dishes and leave in the drying rack.

Thank you! This helps so much.

Towels: Please grab all used towels and throw on the bed.

Don’t worry about the sheets, we’ll take care of them!

LOCKING UP: Slide the latch on the door to the closed position and drop the combo-lock through the small hole in the latch. To close the combo-lock, it must be set to it’s opening sequence/the combo.

DEPARTING: Drive up the hill, take a peek out to your right as the valley drops away below and, please, savor as much out this way as possible. We hope to see you again and thank you for coming. It means a great deal to us as we try and build this land into our dream.
